It’s not always about being first and beating the rest. Sometimes it’s about helping yourself. Road riding was never an option for Michael; as a trail runner he’s always had a close connection to nature. When he was told his injuries would limit his time on the running trails, mountain biking naturally stepped up to fill the rehab-induced void in his life. “I’d say my world fell apart a little when I was told I had to reduce my trail running. It was my life, my freedom. But my physio recommended mountain biking and, as they say, the rest is history,” discloses Michael.
